Venyu Opens Entire Storage, E-Mail Services To Channel
By Joseph F. Kovar, CRN Article Link
July 13, 2010
Venyu, a provider of managed data protection, business continuity and e-compliance services, appointed its first director of channel sales charged with selling the company's entire line of services to solution provider partners.
Shawn Brazeau, a four-year veteran of Venyu, now heads channel sales for the Baton Rouge, La.-based company. Venyu was founded last year in the wake of the 2008 acquisition of AmeriVault by PHNS, which also owned the Network Technology Group. AmeriVault and the Network Technology Group merged in May 2008, and the combined entity was renamed Venyu in April 2009.
Venyu has had a director of sales in the past but the position was focused mainly on online data backup, Brazeau said. "But for the last few months, we've looked at all our products and services offerings to see how we can expand them to the channel," he said. "Now we offer them all through the channel. We want to help partners address all their customers' requirements."
Venyu works with solution providers at two different levels, Brazeau said. Strategic partners are those that resell Venyu's storage and other services with their own name and in return gain recurring revenue, while referral partners get paid by Venyu for turning over new customer accounts.
In addition to the expanded channel access to its product lines, other enhancements to Venyu's channel program include more material and technical support for partners, deal registration that protects partners from customers going direct with the company, and a new partner portal, Brazeau said
.
Venyu will keep its existing direct customers, Brazeau said. "But our growth will come from the channel as customers look for the right resources to make sure the technology meets their needs," he said.
Venyu and InSite One Announce Partnership to Bring New Image Storage and Virtualization Solutions to Healthcare Providers
Hardware and software data backup and recovery leaders join forces to meet the demand for secure, reliable and always available PACS storage and recovery solutions
HIMSS10– March 1, 2010 – Venyu, a leader in commercial solutions for data protection, availability and recovery and InSite One, the market leader in medical data archiving, exchange, and business continuance solutions, today announced a joint partnership aimed at helping healthcare institutions and providers manage soaring amounts of electronic medical data. Venyu, a PHNS subsidiary, also brings expansion opportunity to the partnership through geographically-diverse, SAS70 qualified, datacenters.
In the last five years, the amount of picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) imaging and traditional electronic data generated in the healthcare industry has grown exponentially. In addition, HIPPA regulations have ushered in new regulations governing how data must be protected and accessed in the event of a human or natural disaster.
“Advances in medical imaging technology, electronic medical records (EMR) and online medical collaboration between doctors, departments and specialists have created unique challenges for healthcare IT departments struggling to protect ever-growing amounts of electronic data,” said Venyu CEO Scott Thompson. “The Venyu and InSite One partnership will give hospitals and healthcare providers a powerful solution to tackle current and future data protection challenges with minimal disruption to existing environments.”
Venyu’s data protection and recovery solution is fully automated and maintains the highest industry standards for security, regulatory compliance, and recoverability. The Venyu Virtual Disaster Recovery platform enables rapid availability and recovery by virtualizing production servers and negating the need for duplicated hardware or unreliable – and often inaccessible - tape backup systems.
“InSite One together with Venyu will deliver to the healthcare market necessary and demonstrated data protection and data delivery with the InDex vendor-neutral enterprise archive that ensures on-demand access to archived studies from any authorized application,” comments Jim Champagne, InSite One’s President and CEO. “The blending of our companies technologies offers a uniquely qualified and cost-effective toolset that protects digital healthcare data from imaging to the elements of electronic medical records.”
InSite One services have become the de facto standard for the diagnostic imaging industry, in use at hundreds of hospitals, radiology departments, imaging centers, and physician group practices around the country. Clients vary considerably in size and complexity, and include Good Samaritan (CA), Washington Hospital Center (Washington, D.C.), Hartford Hospital (CT), InSight Health (CA), and Arizona Breastnet.
Both Venyu and InSite One will be exhibiting at HIMSS10 March 1-4 in Atlanta, Georgia. Visit Venyu at Booth #3445 and InSite One at Booth #7555 and in the Interoperability Showcase #233.

Solutions by Computer Selects Venyu as its
Remote Online Data Backup and Recovery Provider
Leading software reseller turns to Venyu’s AmeriVault® backup service to reduce the time, complexity and uncertainty associated with protecting business-critical data
Baton Rouge, LA – February 8, 2010 – Venyu, a leader in commercial-grade, customizable solutions for data protection, availability and recovery, today announced that Solutions by Computer (SBC), a leading provider of rental business management software, relies on the Venyu AmeriVault® remote online data backup and recovery solution to ensure customer systems are always backed up properly and access to data is never compromised.
SBC has served the rental industry for nearly three decades with mission-critical software applications for equipment, tool and event rental, as well as numerous niche rental needs. The company provides rental businesses of all types with the IT systems necessary to effectively manage rental and sales inventory and critical business data.
“For many of our customers, data backup is the last thing on their mind, until they need it,” said Tim Johnson, SBC Vice President of Support. “We offer backup services to our customers as a proactive way to protect the data assets they entrust to us and ensure business continuity at all times.”
According to Johnson, since switching to Venyu’s AmeriVault online data backup and recovery solution, SBC’s backup failure rate has declined from fifteen percent to nearly zero percent, and management time has gone from an hour a day to ten minutes a week on average. SBC manages backups through a Venyu web portal and makes decisions remotely rather than directly accessing a customer’s network, which can be intrusive. When incidental restores are needed, SBC customers can simply make a request and know their data will be restored.
“Venyu allows us to be much more proactive, rather than reactive,” said Johnson. “I used to take a deep breath at the end of each week, relieved if we didn’t have a failure. Our entire data backup environment has changed for the better.”

Venyu Remote Online Backup and Virtualized Disaster Recovery Solution Receives High Marks in Independent ESG Lab Review
Baton Rouge, LA – February 8, 2010 – Venyu, a leader in commercial-grade, customizable solutions for data protection, availability and recovery, today announced that its AmeriVault® remote online backup and virtualized disaster recovery (VDR) solution received high marks in an independent lab review from IT analyst and business strategy firm Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). The scope of the review included operation of Venyu’s remote backup service running on ESG’s own production servers and the recovery of over half a Terabyte of data to virtual servers at a Venyu datacenter located 1,500 miles away. Five servers, including Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and SQLServer were evaluated for backup efficiency and recovery times.
According to ESG’s latest research, 30 percent of midmarket organizations identified improving backup and recovery as a top IT priority over the next 12-18 months. As storage capacity grows at a rate of more than 20 percent annually and the business impact of downtime intensifies, IT managers are looking for ways to reduce the risk and cost associated with protecting vital company information while also minimizing the amount of time needed to maintain backup solutions.
While using a top-rated on-premises solution, ESG was also seeking to improve backup efficiency and maintain a remote offsite copy that they could quickly recover from in the event of an outage or disaster. ESG’s Director of IT, Jeffrey D’Entremont, often had to set aside strategic projects due to the hassle associated with traditional backup methods. Upon experiencing the Venyu backup, technical support, and remote recovery service, he summarized the test by saying, “I sleep better at night knowing that in the event of a disaster, Venyu’s got my back-up. It was very easy to test our DR plan by virtually recovering our infrastructure at Venyu. I’m confident that the experts at Venyu can get us back in business after a disaster.”
Venyu’s AmeriVault backup service gives mid-size companies an easy way to configure remote backups that run automatically using a WAN efficient, secure, and tape-free procedure. In the event of an outage or disaster, Venyu’s VDR service can manage the entire data recovery process using an out of region datacenter that leverages virtual server technology.
“Venyu made it easy to get started with remote backup and recovery services. The AmeriVault VDR service got us up and running in a virtual environment within hours of a simulated disaster and our IT Director expressed his total confidence in our ability to recover from any loss, small or large,” said Brian Garrett, Vice President, ESG Lab. “Any medium-sized business worried about the complexity and risk associated with data backups should consider Venyu’s online backup and virtual recovery services.”
“Businesses today have a lot to consider when it comes to protecting and storing their data, but the bigger question is whether it will be available when they need it,” said Venyu CEO Scott Thompson. “The issue of availability is critical when you consider the revenue, productivity and brand reputation lost for every minute of downtime. The AmeriVault remote online backup and VDR solution gives companies daily, hassle-free offsite storage and the confidence that their data is available when they need it."

Green Bay Packers Strengthen Defense with Venyu's AmeriVault Backup
Baton Rouge, LA – October 13, 2009 – Venyu, a leader in commercial-grade, customizable solutions for data protection, availability and recovery, today announced a new partnership with the Green Bay Packers to deliver its cost-effective and reliable AmeriVault online data backup and recovery solution. The Packers join a long line of professional sports teams partnering with Venyu to outsource and streamline their offsite data backup and recovery strategies.
The storied NFL franchise relies on Venyu to provide remote backup for their production servers including SharePoint and SQL. The team – which was recently named the number one sports brand by the Turnkey Sports Brand Index – chose to modernize their data backup and recovery routines following encouragement by the NFL to consider repercussions of natural disasters and the years of success other franchises have had leveraging the internet for these services.
“We needed a provider that could backup selected data and store it remotely, while also allowing us immediate access to our files in the event of an emergency,” said Wayne Wichlacz, Director of Information Technology for the Green Bay Packers. “Venyu’s services run as an extension of our IT department, allowing us to focus on our core operations with the confidence that our data is safe.”
Until recently, small to medium enterprises like the Green Bay Packers franchise, were underserved with viable solutions to automate offsite storage to multiple geographies while providing fast recovery. The advent of affordable storage, fast internet speeds, and server virtualization gives organizations new ways to ensure recovery in the event of an outage or disaster.
“Just as SMEs can affordably and easily remotely access their corporate networks via the internet, these same advances have found their way into backup and disaster recovery technologies,” said Jerome Wendt, President of analyst firm DCIG, Inc. “These online advances coupled with new server and storage virtualization technologies alter what SMEs can expect to accomplish, and how quickly they can expect to deliver backup and DR for their applications.”

Massachusetts Medical Society Names Venyu Preferred Data Protection Provider for Members
The Massachusetts Medical Society and Venyu Solutions, Inc., an industry leader in providing commercial-grade, customizable solutions for data protection, availability and recovery, today jointly announced an agreement making Venyu a preferred data protection provider for members of the Medical Society.
The agreement means that members of the Massachusetts Medical Society may use Venyu to provide off-site and highly secure backup storage of patient data and practice information as mandated by Federal regulatory guidelines or HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. Through its work with its parent company, Dallas-based PHNS, a leading provider of end-to-end healthcare IT services, Venyu is at the frontline of medical data protection, managing and protecting hundreds of terabytes at multiple off-site locations.
The Medical Society selected the company based on Venyu’s proven ability to deliver cost-effective, accessible, off-site data backup and disaster-recovery solutions.
“With today’s emphasis on the confidentiality and security of patient and provider information,” said Mario Motta, M.D., President of the Massachusetts Medical Society, “it is imperative that we offer our members the best tools available to safeguard such data. Venyu offers a reliable, proven service and provides an excellent complement to our extensive package of member benefits.”
“The selection by the Massachusetts Medical Society opens doors to our growing relationship with the healthcare market,” said Scott Thompson, CEO of Venyu. “We understand the sensitivities of this industry and that it’s difficult for independent physicians to maintain data protection and recovery procedures while focusing on their patients.”
HIPAA laws require information safeguards that encompass data integrity and access controls, and data backup and contingency procedures. As a subsidiary of PHNS, Venyu operates under the same codes of conduct making it uniquely positioned to protect healthcare-related information.
Venyu offers customizable backup settings such as data selection, start time, retention history, and encryption, to meet the needs of each individual customer.
